“Press close, bare-bosomed Night! Press close, magnetic, nourishing Night! Night of south winds! Night of the large, few stars! Still, nodding Night! Mad, naked, Summer Night!” ~ Walt Whitman

I took several of stellarartwars pieces, but didn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all the available material there.

I took the idea presented for the secret mixter, including the short passage from Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself,” and expanded upon the idea, with the “american” or USA-ian overlay, including sit-com-like theme music, spy-movie music, newscasters, trumpets and jazz singing and scatting over the driving, modal bass line.

As America steeps in the juices of its summer 2013 — a summer of blood, summer of outted secrets, summer of corrupt, monochromatic wheat from sea to greasy sea — we march, mad and naked.

Editorial pick

Sister Midnight captures the spirit of the Secret Mixter theme, Mad Summer Nights, with a uniquely maniacal American groove built upon a mashup of stellararwars Euro samples crossed with inspiration from Walt Whitman.
