We the people make the mistake of feeling powerless
We the people make the mistake of being complacent
With corporate interests invading governments
It’s easy to forget our power
With corporate interests controlling our media
It’s easy to forget our power

But we must remember
The people have the power
Like the revolution in Egypt
And the standoff at Standing Rock
The people have the power
We must remember
Elected officials work for us
And if they are not acting in our interest
We will remove them
We must remember
Corporations need us to buy what they are selling
And if we are not buying
They will change
We must remember
The people have the power

And with this power comes hope
As winter comes and much of the world is freezing
We can rejuvenate ourselves to prepare for the thaw
We can study
We can plan
We can join movements
We can lay the groundwork for the fight
And we can begin again

We the people make the mistake of feeling powerless
We the people make the mistake of being complacent
But we must remember
The people have the power
And this power creates hope
We the people have the choice to feel this hope
And use our power
We the people have the choice to feel this hope
And to use our power
The power is with the people
The power has always been with the people
The power will always be with the people.
