GLANCE
There is more to a mirror than Looking full length at your naked body. When I look into mine, I begin To perceive wings and a Luminous sphere. You peep into yours as if It were the journal of your life. The kids have all cracked up, Pets are off hunting other homes. Your porch is a frame where you sit Suspended and tasty all day long, In front of a tray of dry vermouth. It’s no trick; while you lay aside The day, I ride camels Through water, sing gospel In Selma and fall in drops Onto children’s tongues. Why don’t you die and come back A hand; you can grasp The ones around you, Run yourself over The fake breasts of the leading Queen in drag, you can even Pull a trigger, Aim it upwards and then point it At whichever head is yours.
