A song about my favorite childhood cartoon, written for an 80s CBE project. Thanks to Brad Sucks, DJ Vadim and State Shirt for supplying the bulk of the instrumentals.

Many years ago, when I was at an early age,
Saturday morning cartoons were all the rage.

Watching Smurfs, Muppets, Fraggles, Gummy Bears, as well,
In my pajamas, eating sugar cereal.

But the greatest of them all aired earlier in the week.
A hero brave and mighty, the opposite of meek.

Weekday afternoons I was glued to my TV.
Animated intergalactic fantasy was just the thing for me!

He-man!

On a planet called Eternia, the adventures unfold.
At the center of the universe, or so we are told.

Like Superman, our hero leads a double life.
Mild-mannered Prince Adam, until he needs to fight.

At Castle Grayskull, fabulous powers are revealed,
That he uses to help keep Grayskull’s mysteries concealed.

So, when Skeletor rears his ugly face, he knows just what to do,
He holds aloft his magic sword and then shows him a thing or two!
