Hey man.

When you’ve tackled a pella in the past (Jen’s) and spent hours listening to it making you feel like you could recite it word for word, getting used to its arrangement, its refreshing to hear a different interpretation.

You seem to be really good at the live sounding dynamic and i think it is ideal for both of these pellas. Cool

Thanks Scott, I went for the “feel” rather than worrying over any technical imperfections in this one (there are many :( )
I agree that one of the great things of this site is the way fellow mixters throw up completely different dishes with the same basic ingredients.
Cheers dude

Well we are definitely in Kylie country here! The early years before she discovered she was “HOT”.

Like that detuned open string guitar. Very nice.

Goes on a bit but then so do I at times.

Thank you. You made me feel fourteen again but this time no spots!

Thanks RT, definitely picked up some of the singing budgie vibe. Perhaps I should have locked away the live instruments and given it the full Stock Ach’n in a Waterhole treatment. I’m sure someone gave me a Rick Astley CD in the ‘80’s Meh

As I listened to the song, I imagined one driving down a long stretch of the highway with the top down. Or walking down a busy sidewalk in a city. Or cycling along a peaceful country side. Or running on a track, passing other runners and nodding a “how are ya doing”. Every scene bursts of optimism.

Thanks Ivan. Its definitively a traveling song. Where to, I’m not really sure though. Heading north up the coast with my girlfriend for a week away tomorrow so I’ll be getting big CCM withdrawals, but hopefully pick up a bit of inspiration on the way.

Happy 2009 Lord Scomber!
Wonderful mix…the layering, the slide guitar excellent - a nice upbeat (softly Belinda Carlisle-ish)way to start the new year. Enjoyed it and your deft hand at remixing.

Happy NY to you to Anchor! If I’m a lord you must be that prince from Monaco ;) I’ll take Belinda Carlisle any day over RT’s Kylie comparison.
I’m still not very happy about this mix, may have to chop the hair extensions when I return from a week up the coast.
Cheers mate.

Just a great pop tune well done.

Technically only two things struck me that the vox were a bit loud and could have done with a second new order style guitar in the chorus just to life that vocal line.

I like it

Happy New Year Scomber. I’ll take optimism from wherever it rears it’s now unfamiliar little head :-( …:-).

I like this mix. It’s honest, and a little bubbly but not too bubbly. It’s like real bubblegum not prefab manufactured bubblegum, if you know what I mean. And the optimism doesn’t make you want to throw up or beat you over the head til your senseless and stupid.

Very nice work putting it together. The slide guitar is really nice and imho the most ornamental of all the elements so I’d like to see it floating out in front (like an image popping out of a 3-d movie) a bit, but damned if I’d know how to do that, so take it for what it’s worth.

Oh yeah, indeed a very nice pop tune, but I agree on the comments of more level to the drums and a little more enhancement in the chorus, …nagh, nagh ,nagh….:-)

I think this might be my favorite work of yours so far. It is a great tune and I love how you expertly worked my slide guitar parts into such a very different sounding song. Best of luck in the new year.
