I’m a composer, producer, bassist and drummer. I love the richness of acoustic insturments but I involved in the design and creation of the next generation of MIDI drum and bass controllers (well, you could make any sound with them, it is MIDI after all - I’m just most interested in drum and bass) using open source hardware, firmware and software (ala http://arduino.cc/).
