Uses samples from:

Tools I Used

Reason 3, SoundForge, luck

Samples I Used

DJ Vadim / Big Red rap as published on CCMixter

Original Samples

The whole tune: atmospheres, bass, drums, hats, pads, etc were created in Reason 3 as an original work - I was always going to use a rap over it and finding the Big Red sample was synchronicity at it's best.

Process

I cut the rap into useable sections in soundforge, then began a very long and painstaking process of re-timing it by cutting and/or pasting tiny slivers of silence in order to increase/decrease the gaps between the words (I really want ReCycle). I loaded the parts into several NN19s that I strung together using a Spider. I then needed to fine tune each NN19 to get the tempo exactly right as the speed of the rap varies along the track. Finally, I fed the output through an FX combinator to get the megaphone sound

Other Notes

Brilliant idea for the competition - I was already making the tune and was looking on CCMixter for a 140 BPM rap - the Big Red sample makes it rock. Could have done with about another 2 days tho. Oh, and a 7 minute limit!
