When I picked Stefan Kartenberg, I immediately thought this would naturally go in an acoustic, folk style direction. But then… I came upon this ambient gem… PERFECT for the interstellar theme. And so… I became obsessed with the fact that the light shinning down from the stars is light from the past by the time we see it and the stars themselves are essentially our future (in that “we are made of star stuff” as Carl Sagan noted). I tried to capture the magical beauty of this incredible cycle of life. I hope you like this, Stefan. Thank you so much for sharing your music with us and the world. You are the heart of a star.

Here are the vocal stems in case you’re interested.

WORDS
The only hope I can find
Is in the dead of night
Bright stars shinning down
Showing us our future
Showing us the light of the past
Guiding us forward to become
The heart of a star
I breathe
I pause
My heart beats in awe

As a star dies and explodes in a supernova
Organic molecules from the heart of a star
Drift to Earth
We are cosmic dust old as the universe
We are cosmic dust young as the last supernova
We are stardust in a living form
The heart of a star
I breathe
I pause
My heart beats in awe

When the darkest moments are upon you
Look up
Connect
Drift
You are part of the constellations
You are part of the cycle of life
A cycle that goes beyond humankind
Beyond the Earth
Beyond our limited conscience time
You are stardust in a living form
The heart of a star
I breathe
I pause
My heart beats in awe
