Hey,
I was wondering what everyone uses to make their drums? Mainly because, I can never get good sounding drums. My kick is always to deep, and my snare just doesn’t have the ‘pop’ it needs, with the hats trying to hold everything together… Do you guys use soundfonts? Samplers? Synth programs? Let me know! |

I personally usually use FLStudio (FruityLoops) and sample packs. Sometimes I cut and chop samples from other sources. Some decent compression and EQ can help a lot.
I’d really recommend digging for some solid drum samples. Any sequencer can put them in place with good results. Having a solid sample library to work from is the biggest concern, IMO. ((Obviously I use and prefer the sample/sequencer setup. There’s always plenty of plugins for “synthesis”.)) *meow* |

The transformer tutorial should be a good place to start

I think panning goes a long way.
Try adding a subtle synthpath to background with a stereo delay that really fills the soundspace. Having a spacious sound helps give more contrast to the drums and makes them seem more central. |
