CC license presence and search?

Hello ccMixter people! My hope is to be active again, both remixing and uploading.

I’d also like to distribute some of my new music, and I’ll focus on remixing CC BY, as this will allow me to share here and distribute elsewhere, with attribution. Consequently, I have a couple of questions and clarifications about CC license search support that I hope someone may be able to help with.

After getting reacquainted with ccmixter.org, and superficially acquainted with mixter.plus and dig.ccmixter.org, I wanted to clarify the following:
* dig.ccmixter.org has a CC BY filter, so that helps with searching for CC BY work.
* mixter.plus work (remixes, stems, etc.) does not appear to have a CC license filter? Also, CC license is not present? For example, I could not tell what CC license this work is under, http://mixter.plus/myTracks... (I understand that mixter.plus is in-progress)?
* ccmixter.org clearly specifies the CC license of work. However, I do not think one can filter by it (or, I seem to have forgotten how to)?

Thanks much for any help, appreciated! Best to all, vo1k1

Hi vo1k1!

If I understand you correctly, you’re just trying to determine if Mixter Plus is CC compatible?
The short answer is no, it is Group Copyright only.
The track you indicated, “J’adoube” is copyrighted by 7OOP3D and is not available for use with CC.
Let me know if you need more info.

Kind regards,
Apoxode

Okay, I read the following more closely and see the reference to Group Copyright, I will need to learn what that is (a superficial search did not help me), https://ccmixter.org/thread/4441

Hi vo1k1,

Group Copyright (GC) means everyone involved in the work (remix/sample/pell/lyric) is equally protected by copyright law.

The significance here is content control — MixterPlus claims the work under GC, protecting all the artists involved, especially when it comes to monetization.

Kind regards,

I’ve also read the mixterplus FAQ and License, and believe I better understand the intent.
