nice series on remixes at everythingisaremix.info, a history of remixing of sorts, not only music but also film etc. worth watching. it seems without remixing our cultural/artistic output wouldn’t be what it is. not as rich anyway, take for example JS Bach.

admittedly not the most structured approach to the subject. there’s a lot of scholarly material available and good arguments against copyright in its present form which mainly serves to buttress economic control over creative works rather than furthering creativity (the old argument: ‘without copyright nobody would be bothered to create works of art’; history tells otherwise) |
