Moved while moving to this, that hard shuffle in the beat is too catchy :)
I’m grateful to you for sharing your perspective of how sacred your home is.
It’s important to me to remember I am not just traveling, I’m also a guest.

A wonderful mix! I like the kalimba, the pads, and above all, your voice. I also thought I could hear the big blue ocean a bit. Just imagination.

wow Sha, this is beautiful, deep, creative and just freakin’ brilliant. your artistry is shining through like a warm afternoon sun.

i’d love to see all of the lyrics if you have a chance to add them. So emotional to hear you sing in Filipino.

i feel your words in my gut. it is painful to see visitors be so ethnocentric. here on Kauai the entitlement you speak of is prominent, amongst tourists and settlers alike. perhaps most painfully i see a reflection of my past, where i was an ignorant tourist in a place where i thought only of my vacation and little of the people native to Hawaii, a sovereign nation illegally overthrown by colonial power.

i join your dream in hoping the world becomes a better place, and i have hope — because if i can change others can too. for the past few years i’ve studed ‘Olelo Hawaii, the native culture, music and chanting, and work to preserve indigenous plants and animals. i am only beginning to understand but as i learn i’m overcome by the great wisdom and history of the people here. it strikes me to my core and fills my eyes with tears regularly. the world has been so brutally unfair to far to many people.

there is a thriving Filipino community here! Kauai is an incredible blend of cultures and diversity (if only the white folks could get it right…)

your voice is powerful Sha. your talent is undeniable. i’ve listened to your mix twice so far. beautiful work.

Exquisite vocal work throughout, plenty of art yet totally transparent, up-front and honest. Much enjoyed.

An honest and compelling take that doesn’t offer any kind of false resolution. The emotions conveyed, like the two languages, interact with each other on a journey from celebration to anger to a mixture of both. The lower register of your voice is a revelation too.
