His Levis radio ads in the late Seventies were very Trippy. The technique of having a second voice commenting on the main monolog had a huge influence on how I treat vocal tracks.

Thanks for the remix. Lots of deep ambient soundscape capturing the essence of what I was getting at.

This concept of “emptiness” has come up multiple times for me in the last week. Thank you for giving this philosophy sound and ambiance.

hello Speck,

the production quality of your remix convinced me so much in the first three seconds that i immediately gave you a recommend. now to the artistic aspect:

it is a “philosophical” meditation track.

don’t be angry with me, dear californians, and i don’t mean this in a hurtful way, but… i have to travel back in time a little bit. there was a time when i smoked piece every day. and the later it got, the more i liked to be creeped out by the music, because it fit to the scary mood of the drug. yes you are chilled out but it makes you drift into pseudo-philosophical creepy thoughts. well, and then you listen to this music. since i did that for years and got sick of it, i can wonderfully put myself into these sessions. so the remix fits. it’s creepy beautiful, you have something to think about.

but if you are on a different trip like me: red wine with psychotropic medication…

well then of course it’s something else. because on my trip i’m the biggest, most beautiful, most senseless and the best. and the more energy in the music the better.

i have never thought about the consumption behavior of the ccmixter artists. but now i do. according to the many spooky beautiful meditation remixes on the site and similar songs and acapellas, and my lack of understanding of it, i just assume that in california where grass is legal people just consume differently to listen to music.

and somewhere this divides me as a middle aged european who resorts to drugs legal in europe and has left piece far behind, from you californians. it also takes away a bit of the magic of imagining the artists on ccmixter. sad but true. nevertheless i enjoy the hospitality of your californian community in which you give me some space.

yes if i was still on this trip. very philosophical your remix and very let’s say mystical the sound. production wise first class.

congratulations speck.

Love it! and yes I remember Ken Nordine, and in fact consider him an influence, along with Joe Frank (remember him?) Bravo! Thanks for including me in this atmospheric sonic journey. Much enjoyed.

Hey thanks for mentioning Joe Frank. Just listened to some on the youtube. I listened to a fair amount of overnight radio back when that was a thing but I don’t remember him specifically. Great stuff.
