Very topical (and beautifully sung, as always) :)

I have to confess: I’d be remixing this right now but i’m too worried about potential repercussions for voicing anti-establishment opinions publicly. And I don’t even live in the US and am making music under a pseudonym… Maybe I’m just too much one of the sheeple…

No worries Tom! Just so you’re aware, many of my friends that are pilots & flight attendants (for Delta, Jet Blue, etc.) are protesting this. so it isn’t just radical scary groups. normal folks have had enough with this here in the U.S.

what’s it like out there, flying in the rest of the world?

Yes, I know I’m too worried about such thing; it’s part of my mixed-up nature to be ultraconformist in some things and totally contrarian in others.

Just got back late last night from a business trip to middle Europe; really usual, nothing really has changed in the past 15 years except that liquids are not allowed in greater than some amount. Even the security people are pretty level-headed and easy to communicate with. I have gathered from online reports that it’s not quite the same over there?

the U.S. is a panic-fear-driven state, manipulating the residual of 9/11 in destructive ways. they now have Naked Scanners and full body pat-downs (including genitalia) - let’s just say, not an incentive to fly. :(

It’s amazing how close Terry Gilliam’s Brazil has predicted reality (except for the ultra-cool Fresnel lens computer terminals).

This is an awesome and withering critique of one of the most B.S. things I’ve ever heard of.

This whole nonsense is “security theater” - a performance art piece by rent-a-guards designed to fool the public into thinking politicians are actually doing something useful.

I think this one’s going over like a lead balloon, however. We all know the ”they don’t look” thing is a total fraud. The pilots union is threatening non-cooperation with this, but of course, as your song alludes to, the grope test is employed, designed to humiliate you back into line for the scanner.

And “the terrorists?” (I can’t help thinking of V for Vendetta when we just say “the terrorists.”) Well they think we’re idiots - when the crotch bombing thing didn’t work out, they just started mailing us the bombs instead, because we don’t check most of the cargo that comes in!

V for Vendetta is one of my fav movies. When the entire population pays the price, suppressed by fear and anxiety of a possible attack (the best thing we could do to prevent attacks on the U.S. is stop bombing other countries!!!), we have really gone astray.

My best friend’s husband is a pilot for Jet Blue and he is furious about this. I hope that enough people will speak up so we can be rid of this ridiculous, demeaning, security facade.
