Wow. So damn good nearly brought me to tears. Like the very best of them when you sing it you mean it. Plus I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more emotive ukelele.
|
.
Ummm… thank you so much, Speck. So kind of you…

Hmmm…what a beautiful and thought provoking lyric. Beautifully sung too.
As with Speck, it almost brought tears. |
.
Guess there’s something to be said about a lyric that makes me feel vulnerable… I was watery-eyed while singing this one…
Thanks for your kind words, Per. |

This is really lovely Kara…it feels like a modern Americana take on W H Auden’s Funeral Blues (which was incidentally one of my favourite poems before the atrocity of Love Actually, lol)…I think it is one of the best offerings you have gifted to us
|
.
Thank you, Rey. Very much. I wasn’t familiar with W H Auden’s Funeral Blues or Love Actually… the former is extremely touching. The latter, it seems no need to investigate. :) Thanks for sharing the poem.

Many emotions here …. in your voice. A brief stint here, but happy to have you listened ….
A text powerful, but not very optimistic …. |
.
Thank you for listening, VickyDan… I do hope some optimism in the bridge shines through… Also, the fortune in finding a love this strong… to me, this is the most joyful part of life… :)

Same here Kara. Evoked tears. Very emotive with lovely chord progression, especially the bridge (that was the teary bit!) It made me think of a news story I read this morning about a couple who had been married for 70 years and died 15 hours apart.
Tragic couple dies 15 hours apart |

Wow… thank you. And thank you for sharing this story. Right you are! My neck of the woods, indeed (only about an hour away!). How cool that you recently read this story… continents away!

Beautiful song and lyrics. And thanks for sharing the samples too!

Thank you, Jeris. Checked out the passage you linked… and immediately requested the novel from the library. Thank you- looks like an incredible read. The beauty in science is remarkable… such an inspiration…

Cool, might be my favorite book of all time. I read it once straight through and then I used to just randomly open it from time to time and read whatever chapter I opened to. I’ve probably read it a dozen times by now altogether and it’s a pretty thick book. It’s poetic and beautiful and still manages to be legit science.

I know it’ll come across as strange to say that you remind me of Maria Callas - I do realise you’re not an opera singer! - but I get the same shivery feeling and excitement when I listen to you singing as I do with her! It’s that inborn talent to convey the depths of emotion with your voice. Wonderful song. You are on fire with talent, Kara.
|
.
Well, that’s one of the kindest comparisons ever… I believe I can FEEL my head inflating! ;) Of course, then I laughed because I read “inborn talent” as “inbred” and that’s just silly… Thank you so much, Ciggi.

The only hope that I know
Is shinning down from the night sky We are particles of stars When we combust Maybe we’ll combine I love this song! Your iteration is dramatic indeed but I can also hear a slowed down gentle Nick Drake kinda take on this. Very evocative and ultimately tender lyric. Bravo! |
.
Thank you kindly, Susan! Nick Drake, eh? What a cool comparison. Thanks!!
