MMT- I know this seems incredibly self-serving, but I do like the song. We’ve both put a lot of work into it, and I believe the product bears the marks. It may not be for everyone. It’s not a happy or triumphant electro-pop hit, but it’s what happened. I stand ready to work with you at anytime. FB

For those who do not know. MMT and I co-created this work. We hope you can dig it :)

I’m with you. Thank you again for creating this new work with me. You captured the emotion with your guitar and drums… and make it intensely rock. Yes. You’re awesome to collaborate with… thanks for that, too.

Bleak, and not in a pretty way, which is a place not a lot of artists let themselves go. The result is sort of a musical Guernica (Picaso’s painting.)

I know the painting well. This song as well as that particular painting show suffering. Thank you for reviewing. MMT is probably asleep. I work the night shift :)

one thing I loved about early 70s rock was that it often had a narrative quality—not necessarily in the “concept album” sense, but rather the sense that a guitar, drums and bass could tell “stories” a former time had relegated to orchestras. In our current time, post-rock goes that extra step, replacing the story with the sense of the symphonic “without alloy for story”. Here FB’s shown how much you can do with a straightforward ‘rock’ sound to bring this vocal live. You’ve provided a great vocal to really make the piece sing. The mixing is great here—I really like the first appearance of the vocals, and the way that throughout the vocal and the sound seem to fit together well. Once in a while I thought it might have been fun to have an additional roving bass line, or perhaps even an octave-down twin of the guitar line. The percussion, the guitar, and the way you’ve mixed here really make this piece work—it’s a nice journey, a teleportation from 1972 to 2011 and back again, and a fun listen.

Gurdonark- thank you for listening and reviewing. The rock part is alllll FB. He really made the lyrics and vocals come alive. I love that you absorbed how the music carries the story… That’s what really made this an exciting piece to work on for me. Thank you for your thoughts.

An insightful review for certain. I am very influenced by early 70’s rock. I’m especially taken by what was then considered experimental or progressive. Thank you for the comments and compliments. MMT and I appreciate it.

its a musical wabi-sabi for me….
Beautiful wording… Thank you for listening, Anchor. It was emotional to re-visit… the spoken word at the end is a new addition… FB made this a powerful experience. I wouldn’t say time heals… but processing does. :) |

Wabi-sabi indeed! Imperfect beauty embracing transience with an asymmetrical bent. I’ve been drawn to this aesthetic for some time. We raise our glasses in return, my friend.

MMT and FPB, you are a perfect match! Dare I ask how you take these musical journeys, FPB? The vocals on top of this are another journey in itself.

.
Thanks, copperhead. She and I are a good musical match in my mind as well. As to the musical journeys… I just do what I think sounds exciting. It’s often driven by emotion.

Thank you, copperhead. I’m with you… it felt so right to work with FPB on this.
