impressive. this is a real art piece. great use of deb’s stems and spoken word, and your singing creation of chorus takes this from wandering to memorable hook. sweet.

Jeez, so much good music here today. The hypnotic and very cool drums and percussion are fantastic and your vocal additions are so right. Top class mix!

.
I agree with you, St. Paul… a ton of fabulous music. Thank you for your super-kind words.

After a slow start - I was a little bit “what, just reading words and some bells for the whole song?” — *WOW*. The refrain really ties the whole thing together and suddenly the whole song emerges. Love it!
|
.
Ha! I was actually concerned that the slow start might be a bit too slow… But I just really wanted direct the focus to debbizo’s words. I’m glad that you like it so much! Thank you, Tom!

This wonderfully captures the essence of sadness in the way that it comes in places you don’t always expect it.
Like a sad moment in the garden: like going to meditate and find peace, and realizing after a Zen moment that there is no peace. I love that the chorus is drawn directly from the poem. |
.
Thank you for listening… and for your poetic review that so perfectly stated my intentions. Thank you for your kind words about the chorus.

Thanks K! You’ve done such amazing work with this. I love our collaboration. Your vocals are true to the poem and they really make it come alive. (I also thought it started a little slow but the slow start served to emphasise the refrain and I have listened several times now!)Well done!

You’re welcome! My pleasure! I was thrilled to find out that you were my assignment. Your words and the way you speak them deeply touch me. I am so relieved to hear that you love it! I was a bit nervous about this project (this is actually the first remix I’ve done of someone else’s work). Thank you so much for what you do.

Subtle, lovely, with a deceptive simplicity that required a lot of mixing skill. I really like the way you’ve handled the vocals and made them fit naturally into the mix. Very well done.

.
Thank you so much, Gurdonark. I often feel that less can be much more… I’m glad the simplicity is appreciated.

Like everyone else have allready said you have done justice to those words. I like the chorus you’ve added, although I think in the first chorus the timing of the bells is a little off.
For me the slow start is perfect nicely balanced with the sort-off up tempo parts. I allways like the lofi sound of debbizo vocals and I love how you put that feel trough out the song. Great remix it even grows on me every time I listen to it. |
.
Thank you for your review, Abstract Audio. (Side note: I dig your user name muchly.) I think you’re probably right about the timing… the bells and I had a bit of a battle… I think they may have won in that area. I’m glad you like the slow start. Thanks again!

Yes - this is an absolutely terrific track. I think you’ve represented debbizo very, very well.
I like the pacing - deliberate progression and build-up. Nice work. |
.
Thank you, colab. I love songs that build-up and push forward… I’m glad that came through…

This is absolutely fantastic! The sparse structure at the start (windchimes I love em) Debbizo’s profundity and then ooooh the tumbling dice ! Excellent, excellent excellent.

.
Wow, urmymuse, thank you so much for your words of support. I’m so glad that you enjoyed it!

You succeeded in bringing the focus to Deb’s voice and words. This is a particularly sad and moving piece. Your vocals are warm, soothing, comforting, despite the troubling lyric. The pacing works for me in setting the feeling of hope and tension inherent in the story. Excellent work! (sorry for the late review — I’ve literally been working myself sick lately)

.
Thank you so much for your review. I’m glad to hear that the pace ended up working in this piece. It was important to me for there to be an immediate pull towards Deb’s words. I’m so glad that came through. (No worries about the delayed review! Please take care of you!)
