there’s a haunting street-corner kind of charm to this remix. I like it!

Thanks for the listen!! the original had so much going on, the swelling into an enormous crescendo, that w/ my meager abilities, I figured I’d better go for a sparser arrangement that focused on the delicate intimacy of the very first lines.

Beautiful. Makes me think of tropical sunsets, smell of cocoa butter and dancing a slow sultry merengue on a beachside dancefloor. I love merengues.

Wow, thanks for the listen! I’ve been noodling around w/ “Walk On and “I’m Fine” BTW, but haven’t made up my mind on the best approaches on them yet, there’s already great remixes of them… but I’ll letcha know.
Hmmm, maybe I’ll go listen to some merengue now ;)

Thanks Anchor! Loved that lil’ video clip on your blog BTW, great fun…
The Berbiguier project is on the back burner for now, but I’ll be remixing you in a less license-bewildering context here soon ;)

This is great , are you saying you were going to do more vocal parts but did not want to do the cutting up.

If so i will take a shot at it if you like.

Thanks!
Well, that, plus the original goes through a big build-up and key changes, etc. as per a monumental power ballad, and I was hearing a softer starker feel, sort of “I can’t make you love me” meets “nothing compares 2 u” meets the Wailers,or something like that… I know, I’m an odd “duck”, my eyes are bigger than my stomach- I would be thrilled if you put your hand to this!

lets have ago then, any chance you can put up your backing track i think there would be more than enough to play with then.

Can do! Give me a little time, I’ll do you one better, and separate out the drums/organ/guitar/sax, that way you’ll have maximum flexibility; I’ve got to take of non-mixter stuff for a few, but I’ll have that for you shortly. Thanks again!

Thanks! I might, but I’m thinking someone like LS could take the idea and do it justice… glad you approve, though- that original’s verrry intimidating ;)

Thanks! That may be my first “big thumb”, if not, it’s been a while ;)
…Oh lawdy, what have I gotten myself into? Um, I guess I’ll have to find a fatted calf to offer to the remix-gods or something, *ulp*
I hope that eagerness comes w/ mucho patience; it’s either going to take me forever, or wiser mixters will slide into the driver’s seat on this one ;)

Even when reggae was comin’ down heavy in LA, it was still underground enough that I could find amazing reggae albums at the used record store for 50 cents a pop. Some of my favorite were from a series that featured identical red covers with yellow graphics. These albums had many songs on them arranged and mixed just like this — clean, spare and cheerful. Thanks for pointing me in this direction!

Really nice one D! The flute is just lovely and the feelings u evoke with this mix are many!!! I have to ask for forgiveness to Narva9, cause im from Dominican Republic (merengue’s homeland) and I have uploaded yet any merengue remix… Promise I will work on that!!!

D… very nice remix!
