I’ve pulled the drums back a bit and pushed the main vocal a hair in front. The drums are kind of tonally harsh for this kind of mix, but it’s the best I’ve got in my arsenal for the moment. I’ve tried EQ to no avail, unless I want to make them sound dull and flat. If I find some better drums that work for this song of a similar nature, I’ll replace them.

What I liked about these drums were their spastic nature. The song, at least for me, needed a spastic element to offset the long melodic notes and something that says ‘overboard’. The drums are kind of ‘overboard’ don’t you think? ;)
