Wow! I’m all twisted up in my Aeron chair. Where did I leave my medication…

Definitely haunting, creates almost a ghostly, ambient effect; nicely layered and mixed.

Thanks! I tried a variety of ways of working with this track and it seemed in the end the “beatless ambience” seemed to work best. Glad you like it.

An intriguing envelope for a spoken word piece—old horror movies, Victorian poetry of the dear departed, and 70s goth notions all collide, glance off and yet somehow eclipse one another.

actually gurdo, i think you nail the way i feel about this mix. i like it conceptually, and the production is very good, but it seems like there is so much drone action going on and with the spoken word on top, i feel a certain sensory overload. if the drones weren’t so continously overlapped, if they sort of came and went more, i could focus on better integrating and processing the spoken word. but it’s very well put together and i like the drones and the spoken word and the production. and the concept. cool idea!

Thank you for the feedback! I am glad you appreciate the effort. On the criticism, I do admit my mixes often tend to be a bit “busy”. Sometimes I think it’s just the concept as a lot of my concepts are based somehow on the “overwhelming”. Other times though, it’s just I don’t know when to stop futzing with it! :-)

Apart from you mutilating my fantastic guitar licks, i should say I like it a lot.
Irish are melancholic people indeed.

Glad you like it! Sorry for the mutilation, but mutilating samples is kind of like a bad habit or hobby for me. I have this tendancy to twist things all around. :-P
