Nothing. I used no original samples.
Process
I used Cakewalk SONAR as the DAW. I then modified the samples for use, and from there I wrote the song using samples only. That's right, there are no synths used. Only effects. I then proceded to apply effects as needed and put the pieces in place until I had a functional song.
Other Notes
I hope your DAW has buses, so you can readily apply the same effect to different tracks.
