How I Did It

I used Pro Tools to edit, import, track, treat, and mix. I played my Kurzweil 2500 for synth, strings, horns, and piano. Played a live harmonium track and all vocal tracks with my ATK mic. Tracked spinningmerkaba on my Zeta bass directly through the Digi-design 003 and his trumpet with the ATK. The rain track is actually from the first night I recorded the vocals - I opened up all the windows, turned up the gain to max, and did an entire song-length take of the rain.
Samples I Used
Imported Tanzmob's remix. Then cut it into several pieces, treating some sections with EQ. Cut and pasted various sections to create the 'song' format. I also incorporated a really cool rap from Tanzmob but I have no idea what he's saying. If anyone can translate, I'd love it!
Original Samples
There are 10 vocal tracks on this song. The lead has 3 doubles. There are a couple of harmonies and a couple of counter-melodies in the last choruses as they build. I played harmonium, piano, strange little synth sounds, strings, horns as I mentioned above. I tracked spinningmerkaba on bass and trumpet. And recorded the rain personally :)
Process
Lots and lots of cutting, pasting, aligning to the grid. This is the most detailed I've been about really aligning every part to the grid. Lots of zooming in, cutting the sample on both the front and the back of the 16th note bar, with a lot of fades on each little piece. Tanzmob's great remix was a perfect wireframe to build upon.
Other Notes
Creating this track was an emotional journey. Thanks for your support.
