Samples I Used

Most of the drum samples are from kits i have built in Ex 24 over the years.

Process

I was asked so here is the process.

The core of this groove is the gated pad. It's side triggered thru a kick sample with a slow attack. After that there is a filter set to rotate over 4 bars. You could do this in your pad setting

To make a change i switched to the Rhodes keys in the 3rd part. If you can't play that fast just play one chord but feel the timing and then edit the chords in midi. Little mistakes and errors often make something new.

The vocals are created over two tracks. There was little to play with so one track is warm and close the other set for bass cut with echo reverb and filters. I then cut words out of the lead and pull them to the FX track. Then adjust each word for balance.

Finally i made an arrangement without the filter intro and outro. Mixed it down and Mastered it.

I Then set up another project at the same tempo and imported the mixed wavs. I cut up parts and filtered them for the intro and outro on seperate tracks and opened up one bar with a one beat sample and echoed it to get the fall before the instrumental parts.

A final Wav s made and trimmed for any peaks.

Other Notes

I will always listen for a key melody in a vocal line and follow it, reflect it or counter it with a sound.

That way it feels like the backing and lead have a relationship.
