Process
For a long time I was torn between beginning with one of two themes: The main one, which I ended up using (it's simple, memorable, powerful), and an instrumental version of the vocal line (starting at 1:20 in my remix) which I ended up accompanying with the chords Bb minor and C major. That vocal line's scale is beautifully intriguing to my western ears. But I think it's a bit harder to get into for a first time listener.
Other Notes
Unlike some other remixes that I've worked on, I never tired of this original song. The various melodies have a certain timeless quality to them.
