Written many moons ago in bible college. You may have already guessed, but I was the black sheep :P
I can’t see Jesus

1st verse
If we could see Jesus,
Then I’d be okay.
Wouldn’t need tomorrow,
To get through today.
If we could see Jesus,
These walls they would fall.
We wouldn’t need giants.
We’d all stand tall.
But I can’t see Jesus.
I can’t see his face.
I think I have shamed him.
I am his disgrace.
I can’t see Jesus.
His beauty is gone.
I guess he was sorry.
I guess he moved on.

chorus
If I can’t see Jesus no more,
Then don’t put that blood on my door.
Destruction can take me away,
If I can’t see Jesus today.
So I’ll drink the hate that Satan feeds us.
I wonder why I can’t see Jesus.

2nd verse
He walked on this earth once.
He stood in my place.
I wish I had seen it:
The tears on his face.
I wish I had been there.
I wish I could fight.
I wish I’d been Peter,
To stop him that night.
I’d take his place there.
I’d die on that cross.
His anguish I would bear.
I’d suffer the loss.
So why did he die then?
He did it to please us.
And I’m gonna cry when,
I get to see Jesus.

bridge
And every time I watch the sky turn black,
I feel so bad cause I can’t take it back.
And cause I know his blood was shed for me,
I hate myself, for all his agony.
