Anchor wrote the words and shared them with me, and I immediately heard music that reminded me of the album “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts,” the track “Moonlight in Glory.”

As I recorded the poem, it reminded me of early Laurie Anderson (surprise) with the cadence of the voice.

I had such a fantastic time making this track. My deepest thanks to Anchor for inspiring me to make something again.

We also used a violin sound from Pitx_-_Piaitiex

From freesound.org is the flute sound 347775_nikoskaragiannopoulous1_skaros.waw

No You Damn Worry

Are you an idiot? You really have nothing going for you.
You have no home, no sheep nor goats. Your clothes are rags.
You are not handsome. Not even well built.
Then why do I love you?

The people in the village make hand gestures and think about the evil eye when they see you.
One day I saw you bathing in the stream. You dried yourself by rolling on coarse weeds.
Maybe you are mad. Could be. Maybe the Gods made you this way.

I approached you once to give you some bread and honey. You looked at my offering as if it was a nest of hornets. With eyes bulging you ran up the bluff on the high rocks and shouted at me.
Later that night I heard a noise in the garden. I peeked out the window and saw you hanging a wreath of pine needles and flowers on my door.

I asked my Nana about you. She said “No you damn worry. There are more important things than being smart or handsome. Even if you are a fool. Those villagers are not that bright anyway. If the god’s made you that way, then you’re special. Let it be, that’s life.”

Next day I told you what Nana said. You smiled.
So come on. No you damn worry. Let’s go to Nana’s and eat pastries.
She always knows what to say.

(Chorus: No you Damn Worry. No you just damn worry. No you damn worry.)
