Backwards in Time

I was paired with someone who mainly makes remixes, and therefore only uploads the finished piece and not its parts. In the past I have found some tasty passages and built upon that. Dan had many, many tasty pieces to choose from, but managing to isolate them enough for me to play with was another thing. I struggled for days.
Then I found this track called “Restart the Melody.” It stood out because of its beauty and also because my first name is Melody. I suddenly had the idea (maybe I can blame Missy Elliott) of putting the thing down, flipping it and reversing it. I lowered the pitch and extended the time, found the place in the timeline and exported it. Maybe it’s a lazy person’s approach, but believe me, I tried other things before this simple, yet kind of elegant, solution to the problem.
