This is a field recording made at a subway station in Vienna. The voice immediately caught my attention. It is an unknown begging woman at the age of about 20 from an unknown country, guess somewhere from eastern Europe. I even could not figure out her name. Probably someone here at ccMixter can understand the language she is singing. The song itself sounds like a traditional.
I gave her 5 Euro for the recording - although I don’t believe that she is allowed to keep it. Beggars from the former Eastern Bloc are normally organized in groups where even the weakest poor are utilized (hope my translation is somewhat understandable). I hope you think its ok to use the sample. Probably someone can use this in a remix and make her famous all over the world!
