Wanker
The music was recorded in the Teachers’ preparation room at my senior high in Japan last winter. Apologies for the dirty recordings of the multi-dubbed crappy Yamaha acoustic guitar. The noise was an old kero heater which I had to keep running or I would’ve frozen in the 0°C room! I didn’t have any filters or noise reduction – maybe you do! The ‘virtual bass’ is just using the E, A & D strings pitch-lowered (Garageband ‘deeper vocals’), a technique I’ve used a few times before.
The identity-themed lyrics are more recent. I finished recording the vocals only an hour ago – just making the deadline! Thanks to Kara for coming up with the prism theme – it’s inspired some great work! Wanker I’m a bit of a thinker, but you wouldn’t know it. And I’m not ashamed to be known as a poet. Maybe I spend too much time just thinking but it’s better than being bitter or too much drinking. You might decide I’m a bit of a wanker but I’d rather write than be a global banker. You won’t find me talking about hoes or bitches I just live my life, use words, paint pictures. I’m a bit of a thinker, but you wouldn’t know it. And I’m not ashamed to be known as a poet. Maybe I spend too much time just thinking but it’s better than being bitter or too much drinking. You might decide I’m a bit of a wanker but I’d rather write than be a global banker. You won’t find me talking about hoes or bitches I just mind my own business, use words, paint pictures. rob walker, 2013. Play
