The third piece in Barber’s piano solo work the “Excursions”. 20th century American composer Samuel Barber tried to use the four little pieces describe different landscapes of the United States. The third one is for country music and folk melodies. It sounds very simple but it is a challenging piece for pianists. Because of the tricky rhythm (seven against eight with dotted rhythm between hands). In the premiere of the piece, Horowitz skipped the third one of the set.
