Autumn Returns

I loved Doxent’s piano so much I had to write something to go with it.
This is for all those parents watching their kids grow up too fast. The words… Autumn Returns In the still darkness of early morning Steaming coffee in hand Facing the black window, I reflect. My children, growing older, Move further away with each passing year. Before birth, we were one body, Then they revolved at close orbit around me, But now they drift further away… Passing within my gaze, then leaving it again. The oldest, now comet-like burns in the sky as she travels, Returning at regular intervals, but never the same. Always changed by her journey, as am I. Returning to autumn… Season of harvests and preparations, Golds, oranges, reds and browns, Crisp days and sweet apples, Rustling leaves and trees- Revealing their skeletal limbs. The chorus of insects, once full, shrinks to a few voices, The crickets chirps steady and slow, the pulse of a season of waning. essesq - October 2014
