I’m still trying to cope with the loss of my mother Joy so I hope mixters will indulge my latest effort. Have added words to an atmospheric violin/viola cut up by Julian Moss. The extra violin is played by Dimitri Artemenko.

The things that needed to be done have been done
I’ve unplugged the stars and switched off the sun
I stand sentinel
Like a scarecrow or twisted tree
The wind whistling through the hole in the middle of me
Ringing your little bell

My dumbstruck heart is beating still
At night the beacon on the hill
Shines a crimson light
The lie my mind is selling me
Is that it’s your way of telling me
That you’re alright

So what happens now? I’ve always been my mother’s boy
So what am I now? What am I without you Joy?

The house is falling down around my ears
I can’t fix it with my tears
I need a plan
The day fades down to a charcoal murk
I kept trying to fix you and it didn’t work
Now I’m a broken man

In your room I’m surrounded by things of yours
But the hospital bed has gone back to the stores
And the wheelchair’s been returned
Feel like I’m betraying you every day
Like I’m tidying your life away
Your bank statements have been burned

So what happens now? I’ve always been my mother’s boy
So what am I now? What am I without my Joy?

Late at night
A crimson light
A crimson light

Late at night
A crimson light
A crimson light

Late at night
