It will be 50 years since the Woodstock festival took place

Big sigh!!

Wide flared bottoms and a busted zip
Its a bit of a struggle but the denim fits
Tied dyed t shirt with a hole on the side
Where you stuck your little pinky as we walked with such pride
A new generation full of answers and smiles
And Jimi Hendrix ‘s music took us 8 miles high
I wore a kaftan you looked cute
Never gonna catch me in a drab grey suit

Ten Years After they stole the show
As the famous and the greatest let us all know
This was the finest time of our lives
Flowers in our hair a bag of weed at our side

We’re laughing with strangers like they were old friends
Saying all the hippest things you could imagine
Eating chocolate cookies that were baked by a girl
Whose head just fell off and went floating round the world

Somebodys crying cause the grass has turned blue
Their best friends useless as he said that he knew
If enough good people took some LSD
There’d be peace in the world and not a hint of VD

We heard the message that Michael Lang sang
From a stage full of magic in this paradise land
You started dancing and I joined in
When Richie Havens started singing Freedom again

Lots of bum chords but nobody cared
When Jerry Garcia sang along with a Byrd
Crosby on fire such a wonderful sight
And Joe Cocker wailing with his friends through the night

Now I’m creased and satisfied in my own way
But still I gotta a hunger for that August day
So its a big thank you to Max Yasgur
For giving up his land and moving the herd
Fifty years have gone and so much change
But there’ll never be a festival like that again
Now memories they can fade with time
But I’ll not forget August 1969
