Seventy Eight (Octif Mashup)

When i first looked at Octif’s stuff, I had some awesome ideas for an experimental electronic-meets post hardcore noise fest. Then as i tried to manipulate the samples, to start with i found it ridiculously hard to work with. In the end, I decided I’d simply go with the wierd.
Instead of utilising the tempo info provided, i kept the track in 120bpm, and changed the time signature to 7/8 time (Hence the title). I then aligned the 2 tracks together with minimal beat matching and worked some drums and synths over em! Now the track isn’t very long - Bt there’s a reason for that. In the original Octif tracks, some people had complained that they were too long. I decided to go the opposite way and make a very short track, that doesn’t get repetative and simply leaves the listener wanting more. To start with i had high hopes. Then when trying to set tempos and stuff i spent about 6 hours and got nowhere. The next day, the track was finished within a couple of hours. Safe to say i’m fairly happy with the outcome :)
