Sweet Home East Yorkshire

Read a BBC article today about high unemployment, poverty, redundancy etc. in East Yorkshire, which is currently (apparently) running at twice the UK national average. I then read an article about the growing number of UK households in “fuel poverty” and how even people with jobs can’t meet the rising cost of living. I also read that, despite making huge profits, the UK energy companies will be putting fuel bills up further. I then read another article about how the UK government wants to combat the debt crisis by cutting the benefits of poor people. This was followed by an article on Army redundancies and the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder on soldiers and their families. I then went out for a walk and heard that old rocker “Sweet Home Alabama” playing in a shop. I immediately wrote this song in my head and then recorded it in a single take (which explains the mistakes). One thing: the “Humber” is the main river that flows through East Yorkshire.
