I will also be using this one on my upcoming rap DAW work tutorial. And here is why. All of my acapellas from this last year are absolutely tied, bar by bar, to the BPM. If you type that BPM and lay it in a grid, everything is done for you. What I’m teaching here is how to recognize where the rap starts when you don’t have that benefit. So as an alternate mix, is the finished mix. Throw it into an AI stem separator, and look at it.

The first word “Yo” lands on a downbeat. A lot of the “scat” or “ad libs” you hear rappers do? They’re actually on beat even if you don’t realize. They’re dipping their toes into the beat before they jump.

So move forward a little and “the world burns” DOES NOT land on a downbeat.

Rap is about cadence, and we’ll get into that.
