In first, i’ve listened your mix and i’ve heard..waoo..a very beautiful song. After i’ve listened the work of Vidian and Dimitri, and come back to your remix..and…WAOOOOOO..but it is a very BEAUTIFUL song…!!!!
For a first remix, it’s really impressive.

thanks ditto. that means the world coming from you. you are a musical monster! (i’m still fervently in love with your remix of Apologize….) :*

hey ditto,

was wondering if i could sweetly convince you to create a mix of Little Solder for the ccMixter Holiday album? i think you would rock that track! (fingers crossed!)

This is what remixing is all about….getting the ingredients to fit so well together that it’s hard to remember what it sounded like before they were mixed.

i had the privilege to hear this mix being created. persephone filled the house up with such a great vibe. she’s lingering still…feel it burning.

Vidian and Dimitri Artemenko’s tracks were beautiful as they were. Listening to your track, the moment your vocals hit, the vibes just spun in a totally different (but good) way. Another thing — I kinda feel there’s a rock version beneath all this!

oh, please rock it out mr chew!! i’m bouncing stems this morning and will upload them for your remixing pleasure :)

Awww, the stems are not up yet? JUST KIDDING!
permalink   Snowflake Wed, Aug 26, 2009 @ 12:14 PM
the vox, piano and loop stems are up! i didn’t bounce the bass or synth tracks….they are sporadic little parts throughout the track…if you want them, let me know, but these stems are the core of the song so may be adequate. :)

They have been downloaded. I’m giving myself time so that I do your tracks justice. BTW, I presume file #5 was left out deliberately? Thanks again for the stems!

hey ivan,

can’t wait to hear! track 5, the piano (?) seems populated properly? i just downloaded and it’s there - is that the track you mean? let me know and i’ll look into it!

Hi snowflake, I meant the file names rather than the order in which they are listed right now. From what I see, there’s “snowflake_-_Persephone_1.mp3”,
“snowflake_-_Persephone_2.mp3”, “snowflake_-_Persephone_3.mp3”, “snowflake_-_Persephone_4.mp3”,

doh. i’m not sure why there is no file with a 5. i didn’t upload all the source tracks (excluded some odd sound samples and bass tracks because they were so sparsely used). the files available for download are the heart of the piece….thanks for clarifying!

Hey snowflake! I managed to do something with your stems. Hope I’ve managed to rock it out to your satisfaction. BTW I’m glad I worked on this mix. Cos along the way I discovered a new guitar sound and made myself play with a style different.

You could sing to the backing of a toilet flushing and i would buy into it.

Dont let Kate Bush hear it she will be very jewelous.

Kate Bush was one of my earliest inspirations. Oh, thank you for such an honor!!!

I’d follow you into the Underworld any day Persephone…the addition of Dimitri’s plaintive violin helps create a beautiful tapestry of story and sound. Lovely!

Fantastic. Guess you’ll be doing some more remixing :-). Must be great to have some stuff to drag out into the light again. It’s a great song and the production on it is perfect. A joy to listen to. I’ll second LS’s Kate Bush comment too. I don’t have many favorite female vocalists but she’s one of them and you really seemed to be channeling her as well as yourself and your micter companions. Very very well done.

Quote: This was my first remix, ever.

er, well… I’d be hard pressed to find the right gushy adjectives if was your 1,000th remix. That it’s your first leaves me clueless as to how to express my impressions. and then there’s the way you use your voice in tracks like this to penetrate the emotion.

I’ve heard that sample used quite a bit but omg - you OWN it now.

Geez- I wish *my* first remix had this level of polish and savvy… Too bad my efforts to branch out and upload pellas haven’t been as successful; so, when’s your next remix? ;-)
PS- also a Kate Bush fan :D

All had been said… I’m impressed, this remix is beautiful, great music, progressive just as I like and well arranged and what a voice…

This is so lovely I don’t even know where to begin. Even without the vocals this would be a very nice track, but the addition of the vocals just elevate the track to somewhere completely different.

Fantastic track.

Thanks for the kind comments Snowflake. Last night I was in a big rush to submit my mix (at like 11:30) I completely forgot I had the privilege of being remixed, and I’m ecstatic I was your first. Its an old song but still one of my favorites, and now, its even better with your beautiful voice in front of it.

i’m so happy you like it! i’ve loved the mixes you’ve done of my stems and was a bit nervous with my assignment. i’ve uploaded the vocal, piano and loop stems now in case you have the inclination to use them! :)

Yes, I think of Kate Bush (I’m an old fan). This has that sad, magical, soulful quality too. Love it, love you!

This is gorgeous. I love the concept of your soundsketch.

Mythology and archetype research are very important to me.
