Ahhhh, I feel so old now. :) Go ol’ down home best hole in the wall club in the world DJ world! I appreciated the differant slices quite a bit and everything fit very nicely together. However, I did find myself wanting a bit more bass and maybe a boost in the mids. It sounded a bit like a good bootleg recording. Which by the by is part of what makes it sound so hot. I just wanted a touch more, oomf, maybe. Otheriwse, excellant as heck and I love this ‘pella.

4/5 Excellant sample selection. Authenthic old school vibe. Pella put to excellant use. Lacking mildly in punch.

The intro is fascinating, and fun. The French lessons sample interspersed with the melody and the rap holds my interest. The little electronica squawk sound is fun, and the it all fits well.

You have an in-built jazz sense that infects anything you do, which, rather like Holly Hunter in Broadcast News, must be an immense burden—to be “right” about the feel.

I suggest that the change of pace that happens at 2:40 might be more welcome commencing a bit earlier.
Especially when the bridge is so folk-jazzy and pleasant.

This mix tries to do an awful lot. As you may know, I like that in a mix. But here, you’ve got a couple of great ideas that maybe would be better as 2 mixes.

But I’m listening and enjoying.
