For a first remix, this is really, really, really, good. My first one sounded like a baby calf being thrown down some basement steps. Sure it could use some tweaking but exactly what and how will come to you with experience. A few notes here and there, really. The beat is hot though. I picture Astro-Rastas smoking to it.

Wow! Glad you guys liked it. I agree that the tonality is not a perfect match to the vocal (but it isn’t a total clash either). I played around with it, and didn’t like the changed versions better than the one I ended up posting. I like the beats too - I really just put together some fairly canned loops/sounds that came with FL in a combination that sounded cool to me, and then I spruced it up with a bunch of other sounds from FL, the free Crystal synth (if you haven’t acquired that, you really must), the FreeSound sample. I was surprised to hear a rave about the soft pads during Lisa’s a capella harmony section - I never really got them quite the way I wanted. That’s the problem with being on the learning curve; you hear a lot of things in your head that you can’t play yet (maybe that never really goes away :) Anyway, thanks for listening and giving some feedback & encouragement.

Regarding the Freesound Project where I got the bird sound sample: seems like a vast wealth of sounds, not all usable, but very fun to search and explore. I’d recommend people check it out.

ok…brutal honesty coming up. for the first 1/4 of the song i was thinking that the lyrics were out of place…not in timing, but just not supposed to be in this song. i still really haven’t made up my mind yet, but i can tell you this…the song without the lyrics is really REALLY great. i love the squarish, reverbed bass and the creeping beat. the chord interlude in the second half is awesome and works very well with Lisa’s vocals. i think the rest of the song is really really great, but it needs to either be in a different note, or change notes a bit to accommodate for Lisa’s vocals….but then that’s just my humble opinon.
really good song man…seriously.

I like this! It’s a really intriguing way to set off the vocals. The spareness and simplicity of the arrangement appeals to me—even the electronica ia subdued. It hints at night hawks at the diner without being too caffeine-soaked. I may try to run this through my sampler and seeing what it turns into!

First remix?! OMG! Atmospherical, good strucutrized & near perfect optimalized sound. Big 5. Upload more. IMHO see & remix Maya by Norine Braun! Good Luck!
