Great tune, mix is a bit cluttered though. Lots of great sh*t going on but sometimes is difficult to differenciate the sounds. In the glitch/squarepusher section the bass takes too much focus and the drums don’t punch through, i can hear the beat but it doesn’t have enough impact.
If the tools are available to you, i’d compress the bass with a sidechain to drums (all, not just the kick, say; Thd @ 5db below drum peak, attack 0, release 120-130ms and ratio @ 5-10.10) this will push the bass out of the way, but just for the moment of impact allowing the drums through. Try panning more severely but use something like a chorus on pad & piano. Try putting the guitar on two tracks, pan left & right, then delay one side by 25-150ms ro get that wall of guitar sound. Really can’t hear the synth in the glitch section, spread it wide, don’t be afraid!
Hope you don’t mind the critique, this tune could be awesome with a little work in the mix!

always appreciate constructive criticism… i’d say my biggest problem is that my mixes often feel cluttered, i like to get alot of ideas into a track and it can get messy, i’ve taken ur advice on board for the next cut :) thanks for listening :D

The music here is great, the piano especially. I totally understand the issue when you have tons of idea’s you wanna put into the track, im exactly the same.

For me, i’m currently working on a remix of this DJ Vadim - them say track, so the vocal placement sounds a bit strange for me and sometimes doesn’t quite fit and then other times, they sound just where they should be.

Overall, i really like this track. The melody is brill. Sigur Ros an influence? - In summary, musically this is great (love the jungle mashup in the middle of this) - I’m just not convinced by the vocal placement. Probably less and less… Sorrry!

Keep at it, looking forward to hearing more of your music.

After using a sample I decided to swing over and give a peep to some of your work. Da UBQ has left some in-depth commentary that I think I could use. Though my couple first remixes (Around Dusk was my second) are rather sparce considering my interest in deep and often orchestral sounding textures, even if only having an ensemble feel, I think he left well taken tips. Nonetheless, I like the ideas and use of your piano riffs in the mix. Do you use a keyboard like a Yamaha or Roland stage piano or are you miking an acoustic piano. If so, I’d love to have some tips. As I said in a reply, I’m working with the new PIANO (sunday) improv for an instrumental piece, which may have some pells put over, haven’t decided.

Its a Yamaha electric piano with sustain pedal used as a midi input source for Reason 4.0 and “Reason Pianos” refill… in which each note is recorded from real pianos with various different mics that can be enabled/disabled to create the desired effect… (hammers, harmonics, room ambience etc.) i also have an acoustic piano but i dont have the right kind of space to record it in at present :\ good luck with the sunday mix ^_^

Thanks for the info. I have been messing with Reason 4 and still getting used to it, but hadn’t thought of seeking out the Pianos refill.
