Not completely convinced that the tag “funky” best describes this piece. However, your mix is lovely. The piano is very good and lots of little lush details like the wah-wah or whatever it is two thirds in and the distant choir or mellotron sound through the first half of the song.

Thanks a lot. You’re right, the funky tag is not relevant. I’ll remove it right now. In fact, I started without the piano, and the wah guitar brought more funk to the rythm. I lowered it, and it now only shows up at 1/3 of the mix.
The ‘Mellotron’ is in fact a Kore Player (free demo sampler here) with the preset ‘Abyss Flowers’. continuous E3 + various notes, to glue it all.
I still need to polish the whole stuff:
- make the drums less metronomic
- clean the bass (a Steinberger spirit)
- perfect the piano, as I have some problems with the not fast/not slow beat, and remaining consistent with the tempo is still a pain; I could of course quantize, but I don’t want to. Too easy ;-)
VoilĂ .
If you have other remarks, please write. I’m just an amateur, so…

Forget about the “funky” note, Phil. It was just me being narrow minded.
Thanks for the Kore free demo tip!

My pleasure…
I just uploaded the 3rd version. I think it’s less dodgy now.
Hope you enjoy;-)
By any chance, do you know, if I upload the very same file (same name I mean) I’d loose the comments & recommends?
Thx
Phil

If you use the “Replace” function you will not loose the comments or recommends. I’ll check in for a listen later.

nice work - beautiful piano - love the atmosphere created - reminds me of some of Pentangle’s music - and that’s a good thing too.

Thank you. I don’t know Pentangle, but I’m just listening to a few of their songs (UTube). Waow! What a heritage! I don’t honestly think I deserve such a compliment, but I feel it as a very nice encouragement to continue & work harder.
And now, you instilled the venom in my brain ;-) under the form:
“how much do I owe to a music style I haven’t played for ages?

Interesting. Very interesting.

BTW, I uploaded a 3rd version, still in progress/negociation though.

Cheers
Phil
