Glad you got in quickly as I changed my mind and added bass to my mix!!

I have said this before but you need to get your bass louder in the mix as it cannot be appreciated so much at low levels.

Thanks for taking up the challenge!

Thanks Shelflife, appreciated!

Do you really think the bass is too soft? It sounds loud enough for me?

Maybe it’s just my taste as I like the bass to either be felt or heard. When mixing for MP3 there is no chance that it will be felt so the only alternative is to up the volume a bit. My thoughts anyway but not a must do.

I really like your playing but I would like to hear it more clearly.

Thanks Shelf, appreciated. Good point. I did lower the bass volume a bit. I also went for the far end pickup, to get a certain hollow sound - which lowers the volume too.

When I raise my bass volume in Audacity, I get a distorted sound very quickly. I hate that. I need to find a better balance perhaps. Thank you for your constructive feedback!

Another trick is to send the bass to a bus and put a distortion plugin on the bus and add some high end EQ and also cut the mids on the distortion bus. This when played about with will help to bring the bass out more.

I know nothing about busses… guess I need to google stuff ;)

Nice funky bass.

Hey, if you do play around with the sound of your bass as per Shelflife’s comment I hope you still upload the samples/stems raw.

Also - you mentioned when you mix it louder you hear distortion. I don’t know if you mean from that buzz/hum thing you got going on but I recently saw someone mention this in an ad for a bass on Craigslist. You’re probably already familiar, plus it looks like a lot of work for something that may or may not be a solution.

Hey Speck, thanks for the link. My shielding is ok, the problem is in my pc - or the combination pc and bass. I figured out what I need (a usb thingy plus a ground lift DI), but I can’t afford it yet.

In Audacity almost everything gets distorded when raised in volume. Compression works better, but that really changes the sound.

The bass sample is raw, just a little effect on a foot pedal. I will remember to always upload :)

Cool bass line. I hope you can get the adapter you need soon. We want your recordings to equal the quality of your playing :)

I won’t make a donation this time, per your request. Much gratitude.
