Hi Stakes pulled the battery acid corroded 1978 JVC ‘ToeBlaster down from the attic at his grandma-ma’s house..”Granny, I hazz werk ta doo” he mumbled as he fled the quiet Detroit inner ring suburb of Ex-Ford, “and I Kant (h/t Emmanuel) hazz ma ‘sual P ball lunch, but tanks 4 axxing..”.

Somewhere on the edge of Pre-Flint, near the ruins (well, it is all ruins now after all, ain’t it?) of the Ricky Wagoner Memorial Hummer Raceway, Meestar Stakes went to work. “Chop Suey..Deepak Chop-ra..wha they use t’ say those crib where someboy boost a “car” and made to lottza lickle cars”, he mused, mixing not only colloquialisms but oddly out of time JA patois, “I hazz all t’ parts butt’ need make gnu veehickle”.

Carefully assembling African riddims from Africa alongside the as usually impeccable “Meestar Ray’s” carefully but not too carefully played drums, The Stakes (or as he was known at his former job at The Ponderosa, “The Steaks”) made a Brew that sounded JUST LIKE the abandoned place he was working from: rusted, with just a hint of industrial waste, topped and abetted by an uncreamy particle board of a question axxing “wha now ma love? running through it’s dark heart (H/T Joey Conrad)..and though it was the end of April, 2016, and the economy was in ruins and there wazz no carzz, but there wuzz (not was!) a preponderance of “z’s” . .he was able to make a track that the Dean of Thought and Remix Kulture at Harvard in Mass/USA, which was still going “swimmingly” as they say, was able to comment about, “Now see, thazz wha I talkin’ ‘bout”.

and for some reason, in spite of coming out of a 2 week immersion in 12/8 sub Saharan riddimic study, I really like this #4 as well. Good Job Steady Fellow! Carry On!

Mr. Pazden’s review, I believe, says it all. On top of that, I loved this mix! Thanks.
