Here is the title track from Open, called, well, uh, Open! :) Special thanks to spinningmerkaba for the great arrangement suggestions I’ve incorporated. (Also, thanks to Tool for the concept of Swinging on the Spiral).

Open is one of my most personal songs, and was born the moment I realized pure consciousness is depicted by the Hanged Man, fully aware of the spectrum of existence - its beauty and its horror. And that in the balance, hangs, love.

Open

Damp cold of darkness
Covers me
Just one star
Can be seen

Through my window
It’s midnight
City lights are blinding us
But something’s stirring deep in me

I’m upside down
Completely open

Confused and compelled
By the mystery
Of black sky and deep blue sea

One eye curling open
Awakening
The mind of the ages now in me

I’m upside down
Completely open
And I find myself nearly naked
Fully knowing
I’m upside down
Completely open
All alone
‘Cause you still love me

No longer asleep
And no longer satisfied
But blissful ‘cause you
Still love me
I’m upside
Completely open

One eye curling open
Awakening
Infinity that’s mirroring in me

I’m upside down
Completely open
And I find myself nearly naked
Fully knowing
I’m upside down
Completely open
Understanding now I’ll be left here
Hanging

Swallowed the pill
And unplugged
Fully
Open
All alone
‘Cause you still love me

Swing on the spiral
Swing on the spiral
‘Cause you still love me
Swing on the spiral
I’m upside down
Swing on the spiral
‘Cause you still love me
Swing on the spiral
Completely open
Swing on the spiral
I’m upside down
Swing on the spiral
‘Cause you still love me
