So this is a Pink-Floydish rock ballad type of thing and when I wrote it I could hear just strummed guitar and a good beat and maybe a nice electric solo or something… =P
It’s really downtempo and just about the high expectations people have of you nowadays, and it’s kind of from the perspective of a mediocre person who once had dreams of stardom and fame.

LYRICS
Hey friend
Yes, you know it’s the end of the world
As we know it
Hey you
Did you think you could fool all the people
Out there, did you blow it?

And they told you to dream
And they told you to plan
Come on, have a drink
You’re a movie star
You’re gonna fly so high
And go so far
No one will see you
And you can be who
You are.

And while I sit in silence in my silent little cage
I can’t help feeling someone’s clipped my wings
It’s the age
It’s just strange
And it’s sick

So you pack up your bags
Cause you’re real life’s a drag
But the life can get hard
Boy, hang up your guitar
You’re gonna run so fast
And run so far
No one will see you
And you can be who
You are.

And while I sit and wonder of the purpose of my life
I can’t help feeling victimized and small
It’s the time
They want Superman
And it’s sick

And pills
Pills don’t do much
You long for the touch
Of a hand on your back

And words
Words come so slow
Like the traffic that flows
Round this race track

Hey friend
Yes, you know it’s the end of the world
As we know it
Hey you
Did you think you could fool all the people
Out there, did you blow it?
