I just finished my first mix using GarageBand and my own WAV loops. Although you can just drag and drop the files directly into the GB window, they don’t loop properly. I did a quick web search and found that you need to get the "Apple Loops SDK" (current version 1.3.1 - from http://developer.apple.com/... to convert them into something that GB understands properly.

I was quite impressed with GarageBand. There’s not much to figure out but it all works just fine. (Except that you can’t fine tune the pitch of the software instruments.)
