I’ve noticed that some CC licenses have deprecated, specially samplin+ and NC samplin+.
There’s a lot of stuff in the site with these licenses. Should it change the status or continue like now? http://creativecommons.org/... |

Mentioned at http://ccmixter.org/thread/... this was coming with launch of freesound.org v2. There will be a blog post about it on the CC site on Monday explaining the many reasons for retirement, some of which may be reasons for ccMixter users to migrate, where possible. Note [nc-]sampling+ will be available forever, they’re just strongly (and now officially) disrecommended.

And http://creativecommons.org/... is the post.

I notice that ccmixter itself uses BY-NC and only offers two choices for acapella uploads. I agree that some rationalization was neccesary, but I have another foot in the photography and wiki projects where BY-SA is winning. I wonder what are the reasons for the popularity of these two. fascinating to watch this piece of history unfolding.

I think the reason behind excluding the SA licenses is to make sure that all uploads are legally compatible to be remixed with all other uploads. SA uploads can only be remixed with uploads of the exact same license.
