My instincts on this were quite similar… It just needs something simple to enhance the amazing soulful vocal. I really like the gospel chords you put underneath this. it really adds a certain spiritual flavor to the piece.

Yes, simple felt like the right path. A simple block chord Memphis style gospel/soul progression felt good. The vocals are amazingly soulful! |
