iPad o.O ?? blah. I would never ever replace anything real with just a toy, especially with a product made by the evil Apple. Those instruments are almost vintage and replacing them with iPad might sound a bit sacrilegious to me.
About 3 years and the iPad battery dies that costs a lot.

So… that’s one mark for discourage.

About Apple - My first computer was an Apple, many many years ago. Frankly I didn’t ‘get it’. I thought I must be pretty stupid if these are designed to be easy to use. Then my significant whatever bought a Windows machine. (I think it was a 3.1, maybe 95.) I set it up for her and I ‘got it’ immediately. Easy. Been buying Microsoft ever since. With the exception of one Mac Mini much later, but I still didn’t see what all the fuss was about and sold it. Now when I think about buying an Apple product I have trouble getting past the arrogance of their ad campaigns. But there appears to be many more interesting music apps to play with than there are for Android. I agree it’s a toy, in that I certainly don’t need it. But isn’t it a pretty cool toy?

And (because I really don’t know) what has Apple done that makes them more evil than every other major corporation?

FUN sample! My bandmate has a Kaoss pad… love em’.

My opinion on Apple seems to line up with you precisely, Speck. In fact, the only Mac I’ve owned is a Mac Mini. And yeah, I don’t get it. And I don’t get the obsession with ProTools either… not when Reaper exists. As for the iPad, etc… it does seem fun and yeah, I agree- lots of cool apps. But you know, I don’t often use the cool apps on my android phone or tablet… I just use the former as a time piece and the latter as an e-reader…

Reminds me of a program a guy from my town made, based on a Elektor Formant synthesizer of 1977/78. Lots of fun playing around with it. There’s a freeware version available, not sure if it works on a Mac.

Well I was planning on re-doing one of my oldest raps about Space Aliens and I think I just found a major part of the backing track LMAOOOO…

You really like your textures and I appreciate what you do here. There’s always something to find.
