Not having heard the original but sounds like you’ve done some good guessing! Very nicely played, like the “not really in time but the right time” - feel :) and it’s a wicked piano sound.

thanks, that describes the effect i was going for very well!
The piano sound is courtesy of Garritan Personal Orchestra, the timing is courtesy of Australian chardonnay.

..what a beautiful work..what a beautiful atmosphere and harmony..you’d think you were in this club. It’s incredible the way that you have to turn any a capella into a “jazzy standard”..Unbelievable..!

that’s very kind of you - maybe those years of listening to Thelonius Monk are paying off!

You have an excellent harmonic conception on all your posts but it really shines on this track. You have really captured the cadences of Monk’s style and it complements Musetta’s pella beautifully.

I would like to hear more of this style on ccMixter. Keep it up Old Dog.

really nice, at the beginning i turned it up and the vocals came on a little strong, but this is a great melodical mix…

thx J - yeah, I just realised the problem with the opening, if i get round to it I may just come straight in with the vocal.

thanks! - i played the piano and bass in with a midi keyboard more or less live (using a couple of different takes), then tweaking some details afterwards in Logic. Seems to work best for me in these kind of ‘loose’ situations, trying to imitate the feel of live musicians reacting to each other.

Yeah, it’s ok….lol :)

Excellent stuff Ross, I think you should try more of that wine from Aldi ;) I wonder if the different countries and wine regions will produce differing timing. Maybe a french wine is a little more, laid back than a German.

lol :)

Your piano is great with this voice but may be somes hesitations when the piano is solo.
